Students levels of stress and anxiety are rising due to the workload that schools impose. As young students ourselves, we experience first hand the struggles of life in the classroom everyday. We recognise the hardships that our classmates face, and have created a product to relieve the stresses and anxiety that are caused. We aim to create a safer world for young people struggling wiht serious mental illness through our organisation - Youth Community Movement. Our organisation will provide a wide range of essential support services designed to keep young people safe and off the streets. These services would include counselling, mentors, youth BBQs and camps.

Another key component of our organisation's services would be the instalment of a patrol unit that would survey high risk areas and provide crisis support to youth in need.

Through the support provided by our organisation, we aim to teach, up skill and empower young people to experience things they might not have otherwise had the chance to. We want to be able to create a safe, happy and healthy community for all, starting at the root of our society: young people.

Life in the loop identified that all age school students are finding it difficult to talk or express about their emotions. We want to help and solve this problem to create a more effective and safe way to communicate with others. Based on our survey results, more than 80% of students identified that they felt a range of emotions throughout the week that impacts their well-being. Out of those same students - all determined that they would prefer a non verbal method to share how they are feeling with their teachers and parents/carers.

Life in the loop creates customisable bracelets that use a 'colour language' for young people to express how they are feeling.

This company will sell beaded bracelets, where each bead colour demonstrates a different mood or feeling, eg, yellow = happy, green=sick, red=angry, each day users can put the beads which best represent their mood on the bracelet, so people are able to identify what mood their in, how their feeling, and adjust how they act towards people around them based on that. The company will donate profits to headspace, promoting the importance of mental health and well-bring.

The aim is for this project to be available Australia wide, with people of all ages being able to improve their emotional literacy and share their emotions.

Piggy Heist is a competitive and interactive game that gets families and friends to compete against each other to see who can save the most in a month, without spending money on unnecessary objects like clothing and gadgets. It is an opportunity for young people to learn money skills and self control, while having fun and friendly competition with other people.

Gen Z is facing significant challenges related to student loans and other forms of debt. Effective financial management can help them understand how to manage their debt, make timely payments, and avoid falling into financial traps.

The app engages customers aged 11-26 to compete with friends and family to reach their money saving goals, and also gives educational and informational videos about savings and banking tips!

Our solution is that we have built a board game that teaches you about finances in a fun way. It teaches kids how to earn money, spend sensibly, save, get insurance, pay bills and respond to unexpected life situations, like accidents and injury.

Parents are busy, so this board game is a screen-free opportunity for kids to learn about finances independently. Likewise, it’s an opportunity for family members to spend time together, learning in a fun way.

This game is unique in that it is made for kids by kids, so we understand what makes things fun and how kids think. Also, unlike Monopoly or Game of Life, this game focuses entirely on financial literacy.

Our mission is to make finances fun. Our vision is that all of Gen Alpha will end up with great financial literacy skills so they can live independently and confidently in a changing world.

The issue that we are addressing is children getting overly distracted and stressed in the classroom environment. This stress and distraction commonly leads to anxiety.

The stress often causes them to fidget or stress but common stress tools are not able to be brought into the classrooms or exams (balls, spinners etc).

Our solution is a pencil that has customisable materials on it that children can fidget with. This means they can fidget with this rather than other things that actually distract them from their work.

Importantly they can also be taken into exams - a stressful time for any student!

Our pidget fencils are made out of recycled plastic so it is environmentally friendly.

Smart connected lamps that are paired, when one person touches theirs it sends a signal to the other one resulting in light appearing. Showing that the other person is thinking of them and they are not alone. Using this technology does not require screen time allowing youth to connect without using a phone.

We are three students attending Kiera High School who have developed the Link Lamp project with the help of Young Change Agents.

Through our own experiences we have found that knowing that you are not alone is beneficial for our own mental health. We hope to help those who are in need.

Our target customer is young females in years 9-12, that are most likely to get stressed from the overwhelming amount of schoolwork and assessments.

We are two year nine students that become stressed over many things, including exams. So we decided to come together and create a product that can promote effective coping strategies for others students to relieve stress anywhere, at anytime.

We go to Kiera High School and have developed the AromaKey with the help of MakersSpace and Co. We were a part of a Youth Incubator run by Young Change Agents and were selected based on a application we submitted in producing a product to battle mental health issues within schools. We believe we have come up with a practical and effective tool to alleviate stress on the go.

An easily accessible key ring that incorporates a calming aromatherapy spray with a textured casing to relieve stress.

We’ve created cerebrum as a response to a major issue we’ve experienced within the youth of our generation and in our communities. We believe that through the implementation of horticultural therapy in everyday life that we can provide people with a simple way to create habit and ritual through meditative therapy. Plants have an underutilised natural ability to reduce stress and many of the symptoms mental illness experienced by young adults. By combining these natural benefits with the therapeutic practices of gardening, Cerebrum can help bring a sense of normality and ritual back to people’s lives in a daily basis- you help the plant grow, and it does the same in return.

The customers will be fast food companies that desire to purchase affordable gloves so they don't use as many and also are passionate about helping our beautiful environment.

The problem is that fast food industries are disposing up to 15.2 Million gloves a day. That adds up to 5 billion a year! This irresponsible act is ruining our earth with the oceans being filled with litter and landfill increasing each day. However we need to wear gloves while making food, otherwise this would be unhygienic causing to many health issues. So what will those industries do?

The solution is to create reusable and washable gloves. These gloves would be made up of 3 layers. The outer layer would be made out of a robust, fast drying and anti-bacterial material like silicon along with it being covered in small holes to allow water to dry faster when being washed. The inner layer will also be anti-bacterial and made out of nylon to not take too long to dry and it will be and reusable for many more uses to come. With every customer the glove will be washed in time or sanitized with a safe substance to clean the gloves. Each employee would need 2-3 pairs of reusable and washable gloves to last them the month.

Throughout my ideation process, I identified two key issues that can contribute to poor health and nutrition choices.

The first problem was in relation to areas containing ‘food deserts’ where residents don’t have access to healthy food stores, or they are too expensive.

A food desert describes an area where there is an inadequate amount of healthy, wholefood stores, and a disproportionately high amount of ‘unhealthy’ food. Rural and lower SES areas are more likely to experience this phenomenon, based on retailers' perception that household finances of that area will not generate a high profit for stores. In the absence of these wholefood outlets, major supermarket chains perpetuate this issue by influencing consumer behaviour through discounts that favour unhealthy food; studies show that unhealthy food is discounted twice as much as healthy food, and that ‘sugary drinks make up approximately two thirds of all price-promoted beverages in any given week’.

The inaccessibility and unaffordability of healthy food then contributes to a disproportionate impact on people living in these areas, with higher obesity rates and overall health outcomes being worse compared to people who live in major cities (and higher socioeconomic status (SES) postcodes within these cities), as they don’t have access to healthy, affordable food and wholefood stores.

Secondly, a lack of hands-on engagement with education regarding healthy food choices can mean that although children are taught theory based knowledge relating to the topic, they do not they do not engage with this beyond the classroom. As a result, students are not as likely to be able to, or choose to apply their knowledge to their own lives in ways such as cultivating gardens and healthy food.

This prototype aims to address a lack of practical, hands-on engagement with growing healthy food, provide children and their families with the ability to maintain a self-sufficient garden from which they can collect food and to increase.

The PlantBox

Students will be provided with a box containing all the materials needed to set up a self-sustaining garden to grow vegetables, herbs and fruits. These boxes will be given to students at two different points in their education: a smaller version in 2nd grade, and a larger version in 5th grade that they will use throughout the rest of their education up until year 10.

Intersection with school curriculum

The PlantBox will be utilised throughout a student's education and will be incorporated into various different subjects, primarily geography, science and PDHPE. In these subjects, there will be various different components that develop knowledge of the theory behind growing healthy foods as well as practical application of this knowledge, which will increase student engagement. It is hoped that students will share this knowledge with those in their family, whether that be with their parents, siblings, aunts/uncles or grandparents.

At Maren Ya Kaung, we tackle the issue of access to and the price of native foods by operating a food truck that offers a diverse selection of Native Foods. Our mission is to raise awareness about Bush Tucker and its cultural significance through engaging and informative fortnightly Yarning Circles. These gatherings provide an opportunity for people to learn about traditional foods, their preparation, and their importance to First Nations cultures.

In addition to educating the community, we are committed to giving back. Any excess revenue generated from our food truck is distributed to First Nations organisations within the community. These funds help support the invaluable work they do in preserving cultural heritage, promoting education, and fostering community wellbeing. By choosing to support Maren Ya Kaung, you are not only enjoying delicious native foods but also contributing to a broader movement of cultural preservation and community support.
